The Believers Pentecostal Holiness Church of Christ was established in November 1998 in Logan Town, Bushrod Island, Monrovia Liberia, West Africa by an inspired servant of God, Evangelist Matthew F. Sherman. During this time, Liberia was faced with civic crisis and a fragile government with the citizens experiencing the worse effects of civic war including psychological emotions and in desperate need of mental and spiritual counselling. At this time in Liberia the fear of God was not presence in the lives of Liberians. Pastor Matthew and his late wife (Roseline) brought the EPCC Church to Liberia. After the death of the Mother Roseline, the Man of God remarried to Mother Emma Sherman.
The BPHCC underwent massive transition in leadership after twenty five (25) years of its establishment by the changing the name of the Church from The Established Pentecostal Church of Christ Inc. to The Believers Pentecostal Holiness Church of Christ. Evangelist Matthew F. Sherman remained in charge of the church leadership and functionalities that have achieved overtime growth and development of the Church.
